How Business Central Determines Which Customer Email Address to Use

You set the email address on the Customer Card. You send the Statement of Account. It arrives somewhere else, or it does not arrive at all. The Customer Card is not the first place Business Central looks. What is actually happening Business Central checks Document Layouts first. Every customer has a Document Layouts page. Each row on it maps a document type — Statement, Invoice, Reminder — to a report, and optionally to a specific address in the Send To Email field. If there is a row for the statement report with an email address on it, that address wins. The one on the Customer Card is ignored completely. Only when there is no matching row, or the row has no email in it, does Business Central fall back to the Customer Card. How to check Open the Customer Card. Go to Related > Customer > Document Layouts . Find the row where Usage is the statement report. Look at Send To Email on that row. Nine times out of ten the mystery address is sitting...

What Happens When You Run Fixed Asset Depreciation Calculation More Than Once for the Same Month in Business Central?

If you run Calculate Depreciation for a month, then run it again before posting, Business Central will create the same lines a second time. It does not warn you. Post that batch and you have depreciated twice. This one catches people at month end, and I have explained it enough times now that it deserves a post. What is actually happening Calculate Depreciation does not look at your journal. It looks at the Last Depreciation Date on the Fixed Asset Depreciation Book. That date only updates when you post . Not when you calculate. So the sequence goes like this: You run Calculate Depreciation until 30 April. Lines appear in the Fixed Asset G/L Journal. Something else comes up and you leave the lines sitting there, unposted. A few days later you run Calculate Depreciation until 30 April again. Business Central checks Last Depreciation Date, sees that nothing has been posted, and calculates April all over again. Now you have two sets of April lines in the same journal. ...

The sixty-second checks These four clear most of what reaches me. Try them before anything else. Hard refresh the page. Hold Ctrl and press F5. A normal refresh reloads the cached copy; this one doesn't. Check which company you are in. The name is at the top of the screen. Posting into the wrong entity is easier than it sounds. Open it in a private window. If it works there, the problem is cache or a browser extension, not Business Central. Try a different browser.
